I am a Development Economist and a Political Economy scholar working on the interdisciplinary research among Development Economics, Political Economy, Industrial Organization, Organizational Economics, International Trade, Regional Studies, Public Policy, Structural Transformation of Developing Countries and the Chinese Economy. Background
I am an Assistant Professor at Department of Applied Economics at School of Management at Fudan University where one of the leading business schools in Asia and one of the best business schools in China locates at. At School of Management at Fudan, I conduct the interdisciplinary research related to economics, management studies, corporate finance, innovation studies, marketing science,regional studies and operational research with reference to global supply chains as well as structural transformation approach to the growth of developing countries by using various of mathematical methods. I also concurrently teach industrial economics, MBA, macroeconomics and other related courses including industrial development strategies in both Chinese and English for both undergraduate and postgraduate level students. In meanwhile, At School of Management at Fudan, I also fulfill the role of being a teaching professor for the Fudan High Tech Industry Entrepreneur Camp. At the Camp, I teach various practical and applied courses with strong business and policy implications to the growth and technological innovation of High Tech Camp members' companies.
I am also affiliated as a research associate of the world leading social science and structural transformation approach to development economics research institute Harvard Growth Lab led by the world leading development economist Professor Ricardo Hausmann at Center for international Development (CID) under the affiliation of Harvard Kennedy School at Harvard University. I was also the visiting post-doctoral research fellow under the supervision of Professor Ricardo Hausmann and Dr Frank Neffke. at Harvard growth lab from Jan. 2020 to July. 2020. Since 2019, I began to be affiliated as a research fellow at Research Institute of Chinese Economy (RICE) led by leading Chinese Economy Expert Professor Jun Zhang at Fudan University. In meanwhile, I also hold the adjunct research fellowship at Fudan-Pingan Research Institute for Macroeconomy to conduct the first-tiered macro economic policy research and relevant policy consulting projects for both public and private sectors.
I am heavily involved in a number of policy research projects related to China's SOE reforms. Given my expertise on China's SOE reforms, I am also affiliated as a research fellow at China's leading research institute on SOE reforms-China Center for Public Sector Economy Research at Jilin University.
I obtained my PhD in Development Economics at University of London (SOAS). My Supervisors at University of London (SOAS) are Professor Dic Lo, Professor Pasquale Scaramozzino and Professor Mushtaq Khan. I hold a BSc in Management from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and MSc in Economics and Management from LSE under the supervision of Professor John Sutton and Professor Luis Garicano. I won the department prize for the bext examination performance in Managerial Economics and achieved the best examination performance in Quantitative Methods in Mathematics during my undergraduate studies at LSE.
At SOAS University of London, I was the Graduate Teaching Associate who was responsible for tutoring total 7 undergraduate and postgraduate courses during my PhD studies including Managerial Economics, Econometric Principles and Data Analysis, Intermediate Microeconomic Analysis, Corporate Finance, Financial Strategy, Applied Econometrics and Introduction to Mathematical Economics.
I was awarded the 2019 National Scholarship from China Scholarship Council (CSC) for the outstanding self-funded oversea Chinese PhD students(2019 年中国教育部留基委国家优秀自费留学生奖学金获得者).I was also awarded the Department PhD Research Fund from Department of Economics at SOAS University of London. My co-authored paper 'Unlocking the Myth of Asset Expansion in China's Large SOEs-Theory and Evidence' was awarded The Best Paper Award of the 21th China's SOE Sector Development Forum' in 2021. In the field of international trade, my co-authored paper 'Towards a dynamic model of industry upgrading with Global Value Chains' was awarded the Third Prize for The 22rd An Zijie International Trade Excellent Research Paper' which is one of the most prestigous prizes in the field of International Trade in Chinese Academy of Economics.
In my spare time, l am passionate about doing sports including playing table tennis, playing football, jogging, taking a walk and playing badminton. In addition, learning varieties of mathematical tools mainly including the cybernetics, real analysis, calculus of variation, optimal control theory, chaotic theory, operational research, network science, graph theory and reading the books on Contemporary Chinese History (中国近代史), Chinese Intellectual Thought History (中国知识分子思想史) as well as Bibliographies of Chinese Scientists (中国科学家传记)mainly including mathematicians and physicists are also my another two big life hobbies. My most respected Chinese Scholars are: Wei-zang Chien (钱伟长, 中国近代力学之父),YinKo Chen (陈寅恪,中国著名历史学家及古典文学家), Loo-keng Hua (华罗庚,中国近代数学奠基人) and Zhun Gu (顾准,中国近代会计学先驱及著名思想家)
